On the morning of 3 September 2017, the first Council Meeting of China-ASEAN University Think Tank Network has been held in China-ASEAN Research Institute of Guangxi University. Choltis Dhirathiti, Executive Director of ASEAN University Network(AUN), Xu Ningning, Executive President of China-ASEAN Business Council, Liu Zhengdong, Vice-Chairman of CPPCC Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Committee & Secretary of CPC Committee of Guangxi University, and more than 20 other university scholars and organization representatives from domestic and abroad attended the meeting. The moderator of this meeting was Professor Fan Zuojun, Vice-President of Guangxi University & Executive Deputy Dean of China-ASEAN Research Institute of Guangxi University.

The meeting discussed and approved the Charter of China-ASEAN University Think Tank, and appointed Choltis Dhirathiti, Executive Director of ASEAN University Network(AUN), and Liu Zhengdong, Vice-Chairman of CPPCC Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Committee & Secretary of CPC Committee of Guangxi University as the first co-chairman of the Council Meeting. It also nominated Jin Xin, Director-General of China Center for Contemporary World Studies of International Department of Central Committee of Communist Party of China, Tong Jiadong, Vice-President of Nankai University, Lin Guijun, Vice-President, University of International Business and Economics, Xia Fei, President, Guangxi University of Finance and Economics, Wang Yuzhu, Distinguished Research Fellow at China-ASEAN Research Institute of Guangxi University, Neak Chandarith, Director, Cambodia 21st Century Maritime Silk Road Research Center (CMSRRC),Royal University of Phnom Penh, Bouadam Sengkhamkhoutlavong, Director of Asia Research Center, National University of Laos, Lye Liang Fook, Assistant Director, East Asian Institute of National University of Singapore, Pham Sy Thanh, Researcher from Viet Nam Institute for Economic and Policy Research of Viet Nam National University, as Vice Chairmen of the council. After the Co-chairman giving the remarks, the council members together discussed the specific working items. At last, Mr. Liu Zhengdong hoped together we can make a promising prospect of China-ASEAN University Think Tank Network.
